Explore Leonardo's Vineyard

Relax in the tranquility offered by the lush and verdant vineyard in the lap of Milan. Take a guided tour, understand viticultural practices, enjoy wine tastings, and participate in cultural events (if available) to understand life as it was in Renaissance Italy.

Built in the 15th century by the wealthy and influential Atellanis, this palace is a timeless piece of Renaissance architecture that showcases luxurious Milanese living. It is also famous for its fresco ‘Cupid and Psyche’ by Bernardino Luini. The Atellanis hosted Da Vinci during his stay in Milan, and Da Vinci repaid them by designing the vineyard that is now a major tourist attraction.

On weekends, a reservation is mandatory before visiting.

By car: As Casa degli Atellani is located in central Milan, one can easily get there by car. There is a parking lot close to the villa, from where it is possible to walk to the vineyard.

Enter the vineyard through Casa degli Atellani’s courtyard. Do collect the tickets before entering the vineyard.

  • Book tickets in advance: This helps you save time and and skip the queues.

  • Dress appropriately: Dress keeping in mind the season. Summers can be quite hot. Wearing comfortable shoes is advised. 

While Casa degli Atellani does not have a cafeteria inside, here are some nearby eateries to check out:

  • Cavoli a Merenda: Operational through Tuesday to Friday for breakfast and dinner, visit Cavoli a Merenda, a ‘private terrace’ restaurant for elevated Italian cuisine.
  • L’Uccelina: With a great wine list, L’Uccelina also specializes in grilled meats and seafood.
  • Trattoria Il Fantino: This trattoria is a great option for traditional Milanese cuisine. Trattoria II Fantino has a wide selection of pasta dishes and risottos. 
  • Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology: Explore Milan’s dedicated museum for all things science and technology. From interstellar brilliance viewed from the planetarium to learning about da Vinci’s inventions, this museum is a must-visit.
